Tampa, FL - February 1, 2011 - Today the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) announced the selection of Stephen Z. Fadem, MD, FACP, FASN and Amy L. Friedman, MD, FACS, as Co-Chairpersons of the AAKP Medical Advisory Board. The AAKP Medical Advisory Board provides insight on kidney health issues, health care trends and new development. Members review AAKP educational brochures, magazine articles and patient questions. Dr. Fadem is a practicing nephrologist in Houston, TX. He began practice in 1978 after completing a renal fellowship at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and did his internal medicine residency at The University of Texas and MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. ![]() Dr. Friedman is the Director of Transplantation and Professor of Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Trained at Princeton, SUNY Downstate, and the University of Pennsylvania, she previously served on the faculties of Penn and Yale University. On numerous society boards, she is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and is former secretary of the American Association of Kidney Patients. Her immediate family includes two transplant recipients and one live donor. ![]() “Drs.
